A Little Bit About Me...

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and a Masters degree in Accounting from Miami University, I began working full-time for a local certified public accounting firm. While working I continued studying and earned my license to practice public accounting in April, 2010 by passing all parts of the CPA exam.
During my time at Miami, I was employed by the University as a Supplemental Instructor (SI). As an SI, I provided regularly scheduled, out-of-class sessions in a beginning accounting class and realized that I had the ability to help others learn. I realized that all students can learn, but that some are not getting the individual attention that they require in the typical classroom setting. I am patient, easy going and considerate, and I enjoy working with students who truly have the desire to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

In high school I took AP calculus classes, earning college credit and fulfilling the math requirement for my undergraduate degree. I tutored my peers in math while earning my BBA in finance, and taking elective classes in accounting and economics. I also worked for a tutoring service, helping high school students with math and SAT and ACT prep. I am currently a candidate in the Certified Financial Analyst program.
I love children and I am a patient and caring teacher. My mother is an educational diagnostician and an expert on learning disabilities and different learning styles. As a result I believe I have special insight into the way children learn and I can adapt my teaching style to fit the individual needs of each child I tutor.

Having been a lacrosse coach for the past five years will really help me assist every person I tutor in reaching his/her goals. Every child is different, and I have found that finding out how a child learns is just as important, if not more important, than the subject material itself. I am a big believer in setting goals and having a concrete plan as to how we are going to reach those goals. I consider myself a patient person, but I can also see when it may be necessary to push a student who I know can do better for themselves. I try to make things interesting because I also know that if a student takes a vested interest in a subject he/she will be more likely to retain the material.
