Experience Summary
As a recent graduate of Gettysburg College, a prestigious liberal arts college on the East Coast, I believe I am at a very opportune time in my life to effectively tutor children and young men and women. I feel I am experienced enough to have an exceptional understanding of the subject material, but I also feel I am young enough where I can connect with both young kids and high school students. I graduated Cum Laude from Gettysburg College in 2009 with a BA in Business Management and a minor in Health Sciences. I am strong in both English and the sciences, and I feel my cumulative GPA of 3.41 at a reputable school like Gettysburg shows that I have the intellect and work ethic to be a successful tutor.
Teaching Style
Having been a lacrosse coach for the past five years will really help me assist every person I tutor in reaching his/her goals. Every child is different, and I have found that finding out how a child learns is just as important, if not more important, than the subject material itself. I am a big believer in setting goals and having a concrete plan as to how we are going to reach those goals. I consider myself a patient person, but I can also see when it may be necessary to push a student who I know can do better for themselves. I try to make things interesting because I also know that if a student takes a vested interest in a subject he/she will be more likely to retain the material.
