Each of us has his or her own learning style. I prefer to parallel the student's own interests with the topic taught in order to best engage their enthusiasm and enhance their understanding of the subject I am teaching. I believe in the value of individualism and the student's unique gifts. However, how one would teach grammar is radically different from how one would teach drawing.
