I have a Bachelor's Degree in History, and a Master's Degree in English and Writing, both from Northern Michigan University. I have extensive experience in business communications and public speaking. I have taught English and Writing at the college level, and have also used my knowledge and experience to help elementary students succeed. I have a passion for the English language, and a belief that a good working knowledge of written communications will help everyone succeed, no matter the career.

A Little Bit About Me...

Continuing education is vital to the success of many engaged in the ever diversifying classroom. Many traditional aspects of education are changing as I learned from other current educators participating in my Transition to Teaching program. I was honored to earn my teaching certificate while working with professional experienced teachers. My most recent experience was a Social Studies teacher position at a local Montessori school. Providing students with consistency and stability as they plan their own goals is intrinsically rewarding. More About This Tutor...

For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.
My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.
