I hold a BS in Mathematics with an emphasis on teaching from Purdue university, as well as a minor in Physics. I have been certified to teach Math by both the State of Indiana, and the State of Ohio. During college I tutored students in College Algebra, first year Calculus and first year Physics. Since then I have studied graduate level Mathematics and I taught undergraduate mathematics classes at Kent State University during the course of my graduate studies. A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles.
