I have experience with teaching adults how to read at my local literacy organization. Also, I have tutored children with Reading and Math. I was a substitute teacher for students from Pre Kindergarten through High School with different subjects and disciplines. My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : Elementary Education experience, 2nd - 6th grade

I believe that you meet students where they are. I strive to individualize each lesson to what the student or group needs, not just a grammar lesson that’s on the next page. I have always focused on teaching practical communication skills in Spanish, including useful vocabulary and phrases. I love using digital resources such as online news, music and more!

My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I can problem solve and work with the student, many different ways, until we come up with a strategy that "clicks" with them.

I have tutored fellow classmates in HS. I've taught my nieces and nephew to understand and love mathematics, as well as respect science, which is really just the real-world application of mathematics. I can explain many abstract topics in tangible ways. I love when I see that twinkle in someone's eye when something clicks and they grab onto the topic they once didn't comprehend.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching very much. My style is based on discovery method. I use a series of questions and hints to help the student probe the mind to find the answer that the student may already know. Learning needs to be fun and exciting and I try to make learning fun. As a teacher, classroom experiences have made me realize all students do not learn the same fashion. Some students are more aggressive and advanced but there are those who are silent and will not speak out about difficulties understanding competencies. I prefer not to embarrass those students but give them the opportunity to learn one-on-one. While some students have a difficult time with teacher/student ratio, I like to give the option of working with another student who may understand the content and can teach another peer.
