Elementary Social Studies Tutors & Teachers for Lessons, Instruction or Help in Copperas Cove, TX

I taught Social studies in the public school system. Even though I consider this to be an exciting subject, students are often bored by the subject matter. Especially something like longitude and latitude lines. To increase their interest on a beautiful Spring day I took them, a basketball, a globe and a piece of chalk outside to the basketball court. I drew a few lines and numbers on the court while the watched and wondered what I was doing.Then I split them up into teams. We played "around the world" When a student made a shot from one of the numbered lines they had to find the corresponding longitude and latitude line on the globe to get the point for their team. Word got around the school fast. As each class rotated in they were excited to be there and by the end of that chapter, I'm very proud to say that is the very 1st year every single one of those students passed that chapter

I work at the Boys and Girls Club where I am the poetry teacher. I haver also been tutoring for 5 years and I am great with kids. I tutor in many subjects but my strongest subject is English and Literature. I also tutor any grade level. I enjoy helping kids learn and understand their material better. I also enjoy having them feel a sense of acomplishment. I do private one on one tutoring where the child will have a greater opportunity to learnt he material

I have volunteered in a school district for just over 3 years and when I do volunteer I assist children in the classroom who have problems in their reading and math. By assisting these students they have improved on their tests as well as gaining confidence in their learning. I work really well one on one with the child who needs such assistance but also in small groups. If needed to assist a child online it can be done as long as there are materials available for the child that is provided by the school.
