A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored GED students in math for most of the last ten years. Most of the tutoring was in a classroom, but some of it was private tutoring. Also I have tutored junior high students in Algebra 1 for two years. I have tutored fifth grade students in math for two years. Many students have indicated that they thought I explained concepts well. Also for two years I taught as a teaching assistant in the General Biology labs at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Now it is October, 2020. I have now done 4 years of tutoring at a local Columbia community college. Most of it has been in math, college algebra, and pre-calculus.

I have been in the educational field for over 15 years as a tutor, aide, and a classroom teacher. I have a degree in Food and Nutrition which contained many credit hours of science. I prefer a relaxed relaltionship with students regardless of their age. I do not try to force anything, rather comfortably explain things on a level that can be understood by the student. I try to have fun with the subject, and make it interesting on the student's level of understanding/experience. I realize some students may not be comfortable in a remedial situation, and try to encourage participation in a non-threatening manner.
Earned degree 1966-Have traveled multiple times in Europe where I have successfully used the French language in French speaking and non-French speaking areas.
