A Little Bit About Me...

From 2nd grade to my freshman year of college at Converse College, I took rigorous piano lessons from two teachers. Each year, I competed in several competitions, one of which was always a state-wide piano competition. After my freshman year, I decided that I wanted to be a band director, so I switched to flute (which I have had seven years of prior experience). Converse College allowed me several opportunities on both instruments. With piano, I performed in a recital and a piano duo for a semester. With flute, I performed with the Converse Wind Ensemble, Converse Symphony Orchestra, and Converse Opera (Fiddler on the Roof). I also gave a flute junior and senior recital at appropriate times.

I was home-schooled until the sixth grade with my three brothers. I completed junior high at a private school and then graduated Salutatorian from a public high school. My parents operated a small day care that I worked in with school age children completing homework assignments. I have also worked in a Day Care as a caregiver for small children. I have been teaching music - guitar, piano, bass and music theory all of my life, but most recently contiguously for the last seven years. I have a BA in Sociology from Clemson University. I was always good in math, science and history in addition to social sciences and music.
