I currently work as a substitute teacher at Riverside Military Academy. I've worked with elementary children and teenagers extensively. My most recent position serves twenty and thirty somethings in their personal and spiritual formation. I have published my writing, acted on stage, spoken before thousands and mentored dozens. My personal intent is to explore life, discover new things, tackle hard challenges and inspire others to do the same. I believe in the value of the individual and don't believe one-size-fits-all. I am patient, go at the students level, and believe in the use various types of visual aids and hands on to keep my students engaged. Students learn and retain information quicker with continual repetition; however each student will grasp the information different from another and some will take more repetition than others. I have been working with special needs students with various disabilities for 10 years. I have worked with students ranging from ADHD/ADD to those who are bed ridded and need toileting assistance. I have also had to accommodate with feeding and those who are transitioning out of high school. I can teach students how to read and write and how to ride the city but to where they need to go and make it back home. I have also taught cooking and hygiene skills.
