I believe in a hands on approach when teaching the principles of art.
After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, I freelanced food styled with recipe development for clients such as Sonic, Waffle House, Omaha Steaks, Yarnell's Icecream, and Harry and David catalogs. I have been published in Southern Living Magazine and Home Mechanix Magazine, as well as food/restaurand flyers and catalogs. I was able to use my Art Degree and the basic principals of Design with basic food knowledge to produce delectable print ads and video commercials.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been fortunate to teach students with Special Needs and Learning Challenges. In addition, I was able to teach Adult Basic education to inmates at a state prison. Due to the diversity of educational needs, I have been able to teach Math, Social Studies, History, Marine Biology, Horticulture, Biology, English, and Literature. During the past several years I have home-schooled my daughter and a several studentsby referral.
I enjoy seeing the "Light Bulb" come on when a student grasps a concept. I tend to defer to the students learning style and teach to their need and understanding. Over the years, I have found that this a most dynamic and effective means of imparting information. In addition, the student is more apt to retain information when taught in this manner.

As a student attending Florida State University's Civil Engineering program I was required to regularly learn, understand and apply complex mathematical equations, and scientific concepts to both hypothetical and real world problems. I was also required to regularly exercise my grammatical skills through regular lab reports. In regards to tutoring experience, as a high school student attending A.C. Mosley High School during my senior year it was requested by a M.A.P.P.S. I am a very hands on type person and encourage students to use manipulatives, pictures, or various other visual aids that may help them further understand the concepts that are being mastered. I feel all children have the capacity to learn but it is up to us as educators to find how to help that child learn. No child is the same therefore all teaching methods cannot be the same, only similar. A Little Bit About Me...

I hold a provisional Teaching Certification from the State of Michigan; I have begun the process of transferring it to the State of Florida. A Masters degree in Education is in my near future. Prior to moving to Florida I was a football and softball coach for close to 10 years while serving the school district as a long term substitute in several capacities including Elementary and Special Education assignments.
