I feel that teaching is a dynamic affair; everybody learns a little differently. Knowing this, it is a must to be open with the students allowing them to ask questions as needed and asking them questions about the material to help them through the problem. In doing so, you allow the student to learn how to work through a problem to find the answer.
During my undergraduate education at the Ohio State University, I was involved in a science heavy major, Nutrition and Community Health. Throughout college I volunteered to educate school age children about egg/chick development in schools around Columbus. My first job out of college was to educate children and adults in high need areas about food science and nutrition. I then worked at a few different food science jobs while taking classes part time toward a masters in education and volunteering to tutor adults.
