I began tutoring in the sixth grade. We did not have honor courses where I attended, so older students tutored younger students. In college I tutored many subjects to earn money for my tuition. After graduating, I worked in two different school systems as a remedial teacher. I even designed a new remedial reading and spelling program for the one school. From 1991-1998, I worked at a Christian elementary school, where I was a librarian, bookkeeper, and substitute teacher. As one who received a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, I've always loved education. With corporate background I have excellent grammatical and communication skills. In the corporations in which I worked, I wrote training manuals and trained and counseled managers and supervisors. During the past 8 years I have tutored students in math, psychology, spatial orientation, writing and reading. I also work with the Feurstein MLE program.

I have enjoyed teaching for many years. My honors-level undergraduate courses led me to a lot of reading and writing --and to serve as a teaching assistant in ethics for five semesters. Since I also love math and accounting, I was also hired to teach entry-level accounting courses. At work, I served as a beta tester for Excel and began teaching others to use it, as well. I now have thirteen years of experience in teaching accounting, besides two years of coaching college-level composition. I believe that if a student doesn't understand what is being taught, part of the fault lies in the way the information is being presented. Most standard classroom settings do not provide the type of learning environment many students need, and I believe this is the root cause of their struggle with the subject matter, not the subject matter itself and certainly not the student.
