I began tutoring in the sixth grade. We did not have honor courses where I attended, so older students tutored younger students. In college I tutored many subjects to earn money for my tuition. After graduating, I worked in two different school systems as a remedial teacher. I even designed a new remedial reading and spelling program for the one school. From 1991-1998, I worked at a Christian elementary school, where I was a librarian, bookkeeper, and substitute teacher. I have also done private tutoring in Spelling, English, Composition, and Computer. I have earned a Bachelor’s in Biology from West Texas A&M University and a Minor in Chemistry and Animal Science. I was home schooled through grade school, and I had to opportunity to help my younger brothers with their studies at home as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that if a student doesn't understand what is being taught, part of the fault lies in the way the information is being presented. Most standard classroom settings do not provide the type of learning environment many students need, and I believe this is the root cause of their struggle with the subject matter, not the subject matter itself and certainly not the student. I am very good at explaining concepts in many different ways and work patiently and at the student's own pace. Frustration with the subject and/or the teacher only makes the learning process more difficult, so I try to keep the learning fun and tap into the student's own interests and experience in order to make the subject accessible.
