I believe in a hands-on approach to teaching and learning. I strongly believe that it is important for the learner to be engaged in the material being taught so that they can be inspired to perform at the best of their abilities. I will try to avoid utilizing the busy work that one might find in a classroom setting.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in music from the University of Connecticut. While partaking in this course, I took a variety of courses relating to music including music theory, music history, and applied studies (lessons) on my instrument, which was trombone. After graduating from college, I served in Americorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) for two years. Americorps NCCC is a community service organization for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24. My comments on tutoring Trombone : Majored in Trombone while in College

Through my life I have excelled in the subject of music. I am fortunate enough to have studied with great private instructors and professors, and am seasoned going on 5 years of teaching in the public school setting. As a high school instructor, I have 5 Choral ensembles in addition to my management of the Choral Department and courses of piano and American Contemporary Music. In previous years teaching, I have worked with grades 4-12 including general music curriculum, choral instruction and Marching Band. I am proficient with music theory, and excel in teaching aural skills to prep for the AP Music Theory exam. I was offered a position as an Aural Skills TA during my undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
