A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching approach is targeted to the student i am teaching to; i believe that learning a foreign languages is not a burden but should be a fun experience. I use music, movies, food, conversation, and readings as a teaching approach to maximize learning.
I am Italian born and raised and moved to the USA 5 years ago to work on my M.A. I have taught English in my home country and I enjoy teaching Italian language and Italian Cusine. I love cooking and i have held small cooking classes for friends and neighbors. Italian is my first language but i am fluent in English as well. For those who are interested, I offer cooking classes to learn how to prepare authentic Italian dishes only with fresh ingredients, explained step by step. Education has always been one of my greatest facinations. I achieved a BA in English grammars, a MLA in creative writing, and fifteen credits towards a PhD in literature and literary criticism. I discovered the writing center at my undergraduate university and became a tutor immediately. I found that I was in a position to learn just as much at the students I tutored. Over the past twelve years, I have continued that facination with learning in voluntary tutoring sessions.
I believe in the program of teaching across the curriculum. The use of songs to highlight certain grammatical or thematic elements I have found to be very effective. Interactive media to keep the students engaged as well as aware that what they are learning is relevant is a must. I am a firm believer that anyone can learn a language as long as it is taught properly and effectively.
