I try to make whatever material being studied appealing and interesting, pictures and examples of the wonders of science are what captivated me, so I try to do the same when I teach.

In the summer time during my undergraduate career I worked as a camp counselor and coach in Colorado for children from the ages of 6-18. After completion of my BA I coached at my alma-mater. From there I decided to pursue my graduate education and took a scholarship in the althetic department at the University of Arkansas where I became an academic advisor for the football team for 4 years. In the summers during my graduate career I worked for Sylvan Learning centers. I began as an English teacher and filled in on Math when they were short handed. I worked with all levels from pre-K to adult. After obtaining my doctorate without dissertation, I took a job teaching English in South Korea.

I love teaching. I especially love the reaction I get when a student understands a difficult concept they have been struggling with. To help struggling students, we break down difficult concepts into smaller pieces and help them translate difficult scientific jargon and other vocabulary into "regular English". Discovering how these words are broken down allows the students to recognize and translate words in the future. I am a graduate of Clemson University, with a BA in Biological Sciences. I have always enjoyed biology since my first AP class my Junior year of high school. After college graduation I worked for six months in a cancer research lab, which gave me the knowledge of "real life" science and how that effects our lives I have worked as an after school and summer camp counselor which has helped me learn how to relate to them, and teach them material they are learning in school.
I love that look that you get from a child who gets what you are teaching them. When the light bulb turns on, and you know that they understand the process. That's what makes it all worth it. My teaching style is that with enough work, any child can succeed. They just have to know they matter to the teacher. I am a hands on learner myself so visual tools help me to teach the concepts to students.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a college student, I wanted to help other struggling students as well as polish my own skills. I decided that tutoring students would be a great job to earn money and achieve some personal goals. In addition, I played college sports so my students were other athletes. I have tutored students in math, accounting, finance, English, and various other business classes.
My teaching style is very hands on. I like to work the problems out with the students and show them how to do each step. I love questions and I love for the student to fully understand. I want the student to fully comprehend what they are doing. If not, they will never be able to do it without me there. Confidence is key and that can be achieved through repetition and a full understanding.
