Communications is one of my top subjects! I have a PhD in Educational Leadership, a master's in English, and have taught at a four-year university and a two-year college (including compositions, communications, and public speaking). I have also worked with HS students in college preparation skills.

I believe in working with students, not talking at them. I ask lots of questions and make sure students retain the information and can apply it to the real world.

In the summer time during my undergraduate career I worked as a camp counselor and coach in Colorado for children from the ages of 6-18. After completion of my BA I coached at my alma-mater. From there I decided to pursue my graduate education and took a scholarship in the althetic department at the University of Arkansas where I became an academic advisor for the football team for 4 years. In the summers during my graduate career I worked for Sylvan Learning centers. I began as an English teacher and filled in on Math when they were short handed. I love working with people whether they are adults or children. I have a desire for helping anyone achieve their goal for life. I know how important it is to assist others because I support disabled and special needs individuals, so I have to teach them how to be self sufficient, according to their level of understanding. My teaching style is very hands on. I like to work the problems out with the students and show them how to do each step. I love questions and I love for the student to fully understand. I want the student to fully comprehend what they are doing. If not, they will never be able to do it without me there. Confidence is key and that can be achieved through repetition and a full understanding.
As a college student, I wanted to help other struggling students as well as polish my own skills. I decided that tutoring students would be a great job to earn money and achieve some personal goals. In addition, I played college sports so my students were other athletes. I have tutored students in math, accounting, finance, English, and various other business classes.
