I began as a teacher's assistant in 1994 for 4 years before returning to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Ed. I obtained endorsements in high school math and reading. My teaching experience began at a school for girls who are court ordered to residential treatment for behaviors. Unfortunately, after over 8 years in this position, I was laid off. Since then I have been employed by Sylvan Learning Center, a tutoring facility where we work with student of various ages and abilities. We assist these students with reading, math (both beginning to high school levels), study skills and test prep. I have taught various levels of math - elementary through some college - reading, speech, computer applications, science, history, and English. I graduated from the University of Redlands, in Redlands, CA, with a BA in Liberal Studies and a minor in Communicative Disorders. I have teaching credentials for both Minnesota and California as an elementary educator. During my college years, I was employed as a tutor where I worked with grades K-12 in all subject matters. I have also been a reading and mathematics tutor for a non-profit tutoring center and was employed with the Redlands Unified School District as an American Reads/Phonetics tutor. I attended the University of North Dakota for 4 years and in that time received a BA in Anthropology which has provided me the experience and knowledge of helping people in holistic ways. I now attend graduate school to obtain an MS in Applied Anthropology. Just about every semester I have written a 7-15 page research paper and have written several other essays, reports, and assignments in general.
