My style is patient, respectful, fair and adaptive. The goal is to find what works well for the student, not take a rigid one-size-fits-all approach that a classroom may employ. I start looking right away for “What is missing?” I have seen many students who are perfectly capable but struggle because they missed a fundamental building block. Learning is always difficult. In my first position as an ESL instructor in Korea, I taught mainly creative conversational courses with university students, bank executives, government employees, etc. My second institute required a strict method of repetition, conjugation and pronunciation exercises.
