I believe the best teacher for a student is a student due to the easy connection. Everyone learns differently and I can help a student in the most efficent way for them to learn.
I have tutoring experience from family, and friends to jobs taken off of job sites. I have tutored many different courses before and will go out of my way to help a student in need if I am unsure of something. All of the subjects I put that I can tutor I can effectively help a student understand. The temptation as instructor is to simply restructure the way in which a student learns in order to fit your view, and those I have helped encourage such behavior. Guidance, suggestions, and allusions as to how a student can improve and understand is a better alternative. Simply doing the work for the student has little value in regards to education. A fine balance must be struck between open ended comments of little use and high jacking creativity through re-working large portions of work. My policy is to make the student aware of their shortcomings, explain my reasoning, and use enigmatic reserve in telling them how to correct errors. Unless the mistake is simple, I hold back on literally telling them what to do. .

A Little Bit About Me...

I use a variety of teaching styles and methods for children. I use various styles of music, composers and performers in lesson plans. Currently I am using books on music and musicians as part of my lesson plans. I believe literature is extremely important in teaching children. I am direct with children in my classroom. I give them expectations, I set goals, and I follow through. It is important for an instructor to state exactly what is expected of the student in order to help them achieve their goals.
I have been teaching children of all ages for over 25 years. My primary expertise has been in music education.
