As an undergraduate, my focus for studies in English were both Critical Literary Analysis and Creative Writing. Analytical writing was stressed heavily, giving me the ability to interpret a text based on intrinsic value. The creative tract allowed me to experiment with my own abilities while keeping in mind strategies implemented by others I have read and studied. A requirement for all English majors at the university was to have intermediate skills in a foreign language. I have taught private lessons for guitar and bass guitar students of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds since November 2007. I can teach many styles of music such as traditional classical, rock, blues, jazz and funk. I currently hold a teaching position in Billerica, MA. My approach to teaching is to first make a general assessment of the student's skill level and having the student play what he or she is comfortable with on their instrument. I try to make sure that a student is getting comfortable with the music they are learning before leaving the lesson by breaking down the subject matter and going over it a few times. For the last four years I have been at Cardigan Mountain School, where I taught English, Latin, Homeric Greek, ESL, and Ancient History. I collaborated with the English Dept., providing, via Power Point Lecture Presentations, the historical background to Tennyson’s epic account of the Light Brigade at Balaklava and Shakespeare’s Henry V, and, as part of the eight grade history seminar, I delivered a forty-minute lecture on Hitler and the Holocaust.
