I am a fan of Howard Gardner- I believe each student has his/her own learning style. Knowing these learning styles can help both teacher and student accomplish academic success. I also believe in a gradual release of responsibility on the student's part. Teaching vocabulary before the actual lesson can help the student understand more completely.

When tutoring, I try to meet the students needs by utilizing methods of teaching which take into consideration the student's learning style. I explain concepts using visual representations as well as numerical/algebraic models. I am a very patient teacher who will find various ways of explaining math concepts, until I find one that works for the student. I am proud to say I was successful in that I helped many students and that I was able to do this over a wide range of student needs.
