I believe that “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink,” but if it won’t drink, try putting salt in its oats. Everyone can learn, but to do any significant amount of learning they need to choose to do so. As an educator I can work with students to try and make the material such that they desire to learn about it. I find this easiest to do in a small group tutoring session, because you can see how the students are thinking and can cater towards how they learn best. In a large group it is a little harder to personalize a lesson or a project, but to a degree the class can be read and its particular struggles addressed. Learning requires work, and good teachers can motivate students to want to work for their education, and make that work manageable for them.

As a graduate of Andrews University, I was confronted with the task of completing a degree in the field of Engineering. With diligent efforts and a drive to overcome the academic challenges once faces as a student, I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. With much exposure to technical papers and lab reports, I have acquired exceptional grammatical skills. As a student, I have always indirectly tutored, helping fellow classmates in various subjects.
I enjoy teaching children and preparing those who will be the future of our society. I get to know the student and assess individual understanding. Then I relate the material to the student in a way that is conducive to comprehension. Then I encourage working through problems and giving examples in a way that relates material to prior knowledge. My style of teaching is repetition of material focusing on specific areas where the student is having problems. One on one approach until the lesson is grasped by the student has proven to work more than group settings. Once the area of concern is learned the student usually continues getting it down pat on their own with me as backup or a question resource from that point.

I really enjoy working with children in various subjects and activities. I believe all children have a different way of learning and can all find a way that best suites them. My teaching style is based on how the student learns best and what their interests are. I like to incorporate my excitement to teach because students tend to be more interested in learning when you are interested in who they are. I really stress hard work and fun into my lessons so that students will not only learn a lot, but remember it as well.
As a civil engineering graduate, I spent a lot of time working with mathematics and achieving a higher level of education.
