I graduated with honors from a liberal arts school with a BA in mathematics. During my time there I had also taken many science classes both biological and physical. While I was there I tutored students in math and science and ran labs for several science classes as a Laboratory Assistant. After my time there I was accepted into and began studying for a MA in mathematics at Western Michigan University where I was given an assistantship. As a Graduate assistant at WMU I have taught Algebra I and have facilitated Applied Calc Recitations, as well as tutored students a wide range of math classes.

I currently am attending western michigan university for a masters degree in statistics. I have experience tutoring chemistry to undergraduates. I also have a great deal of experience writing reports of a highly technical nature.
I get to know the student and assess individual understanding. Then I relate the material to the student in a way that is conducive to comprehension. Then I encourage working through problems and giving examples in a way that relates material to prior knowledge. I started tutoring math as an 8th grade student, and tutored consistently for the next 10 years. I tutored math from 4th grade up through Calculus. I graduated magna cum laude from Dominican University with a B.S. with Distinction in Math and from NIU with a M.S. in Math. I have always excelled at school, so I would help with any subject. I am certified through the State of Illnois to teach math and history at the middle school and high school levels. I have taught 4th grade through 8th grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trignometry, and introductory college classes in the Chicagoland area. My style of teaching is repetition of material focusing on specific areas where the student is having problems. One on one approach until the lesson is grasped by the student has proven to work more than group settings. Once the area of concern is learned the student usually continues getting it down pat on their own with me as backup or a question resource from that point.

After I talk to students ,I completely understand how much they understood the subject and help them to complete the missing concepts in their understanding.
