I am studying Secondary Math Education at the University of Vermont. I am a senior and I have completed all of my education and math requirements for my degree. In the spring I will be student teaching in one of the local schools. Last year, I spent over 100 hours in the classroom observing and teaching. I like explain the problem to the students and then let them work on few problems on their own. I would then correct the problems that the students were working on and ask if they need any questions. It is difficult to describe my teaching style because I try to adapt to the student. Students learn differently and therefore it is my belief that you must observe first and then you have to adapt to the student, especially in a one on one situation. Some students may learn better if you play a game with them, others if you read them a passage.
