Calculus I is one of my top subjects! I have taken AP Calculus AB and expect to score high on the exam.

I have tutored in math from 6th through 12th grade previously. I have a 4.5600 GPA and have often helped my fellow students. I have tutored my friend's brother in various subjects, and have been able to work with his ADHD. I took both an SAT and an ACT prep class, and I got a 2190 on the SAT and a 35 on the ACT. I also took the SAT Subject Tests and can tutor for those as well.
I prefer to work with motivated students. I enjoy one on one tutoring best, but I can work in a group setting. I think I am best at explaining concepts verbally. Particularly when I tutor math, I like to explain the reasoning and concepts behind what I am teaching, rather than encouraging rote memorization. For SAT and ACT prep, I think it is primarily a matter of explaining the structure of the test and teaching ways to address different questions. The content is important and I can teach that as well, but ... read more

My comments on tutoring Calculus I : Cover Limits, slope of tangent lines, max and min problems, chain rule, mean-value theorem, power rule, higher-order derivatives, sine and cosine functions

I try to present each subject area as a sample problem and show EXACTLY how a solution is reached. Then I invite the student's participation with a view toward understanding the student's thinking. While accuracy in math is vital, understanding the steps involved is crucial.
Eight years of tutoring math subjects for middle school and high school students. I have a keen interest in math and have always enjoyed helping students grasp the essence of a problem and its mathematical solution. I worked for many years in the corporate world, designing and programming mid-range and large scale computers.

Always work toward the enjoyment of learning and discovery!!

My degree a BS in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on math. I spent the 2011 and 2012 school year as a math and science substitute teacher in Pinellas County. I received my certification by the FDOE in math and physics. As my resume’ indicates, my career grew in applied engineering and science. My staff management work was promoting engineered products used to increase manufacturing productivity. This included complex proposals to many different industries in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Tampa. My leadership work was always centered on the learning process, since teaching of fundamentals was the centerpiece of my approach. There is no greater reward, as a teacher, than to experience a student discovering the material, which is important to his progress. I believe I can handle the curriculum and add to the application of the concepts to be covered in class.

I am in college right now but I still teach math to my sister who is in 9th grade, and my mom who is in college right now. I have experience of teaching math but I never really get paid for that and I was not like a real employee.

A Little Bit About Me...

My major complaint with the current pedagogy of STEM fields is there focus on teaching students to be able to produce answers so a slew of canned and frankly uninteresting problem sets. There is so much interesting literature, philosophy, and history in the fields of science and physics that it makes very little sense to muddle with these less helpful and dull techniques and problems. Physics and math education has become so perforated with cliche that shows like Cosmos and the elegant universe can become hits by just regurgitating the same buzz-theories (Schrodinger's cat, Black holes, the multiverse etc.) in the same, cloddish language (space-time is 'warped' and twisted, quantum 'weirdness', etc). This lack of original language and analogy is not a semantical issue; it's suggestive of the philistine cleaving of the sciences from the arts and it's very disturbing -- these truly awesome ... read more

Calculus I is one of my top subjects!

Currently in the Pinellas County School system as an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Tutor. I work with high school students in the classroom environment assisting in tutorial groups. I was given training on as how to ask students higher level order thinking questions (critical thinking) through my current Bachelor Degree program at St. Petersburg College: Secondary Mathematics in Education. I have done approximately fifty school based hours in the school systems for class work.

Here is Some Good Information About Calculus I Tutoring

Does just the mention of Calculus make you start to shake? Do differential equations, multiple integrals, exponentials and logarithms make your head spin? Whether taking calculus in high school or in college, understanding the concepts of calculus takes a lot of studying and a lot of effort. The longer a student waits to get help, the less likely they are to catch up in time to save their grade. Students can succeed in a calculus class; it just may take some extra help to nail down and understand the concepts of this upper level math class.
