During my undergrad, I was part of the mentoring program called P.O.W.E.R. which tutored and mentored in-coming freshmen girls and boys. P.O.W.E.R. stands for Peers Offering Ways to Excellent Results. I had a group of 10 girls whom I met with weekly and tutored them in any subject they were having trouble with. I even went to some of their homes to tutor them, if they could not meet during school. I was on the Honor's List with a perfect 4.0 GPA three years in a row. A Little Bit About Me...

I have two bachelor degrees, one in computer science, the other in mathematics with a type 09 cert (6-12). I belong to Mensa and the NCTM, and have excellent English and decent Spanish speaking and writing skills. I have taught and tutored in mathematics and computer science for quite awhile, and I earned a 95% on my PSAT and a 32 on my ACT.
Generally, I'm a constructivist, and I believe the best method of tutoring is providing a completely individuated scaffold for any student. While I was raised in old-school education, I believe that some of the newer techniques of education through hands-on, the use of digital technology, and through writing across the curriculum are effective for many students.
