I love to see a person understand something they have been trying so hard to understand. I know that all people are going to learn differently and that I have to determine how a particular person learns. I am a very patient person, and I know that if a person is not understanding a subject, I just need to find another way to explain it. Every student has the capability to learn. I hold a BS degree in Mathematics from Salisbury University, where I regularly tutored my peers in various math subjects, physics, and chemistry. I also studied Spanish, with which I can still carry a basic conversation. I also taught English to Spanish-speaking immigrants through the Worcester County Board of Education for about 6 months.

I have been involved with youth since completing Bible College in 1978. I have two grown children who both completed college (my daughter cum laud in chem; University of Kentucky). I graduated from St. Lawrence University, a liberal arts foundation of learning that has served me judiciously on the metaphorical road of life. For the past several years I have applied my interest for the ocean environment, marine mammals and teaching to volunteer for education outreach in schools and the local communities in coastal Delaware. As an Education Director at a Boys & Girls Club, I taught in the non-traditional sense, through after school literature-enhancing programming of various kinds. I instructed K-12 students, and even parents and staff, on many different levels of achievement and ability, so I am very acquainted with diverse populations and accomodating their educational needs through creative tools and approaches. Since my years as an undergraduate student, one of my passions has always been giving back to the community through tutoring and mentoring.
