I have also been a private tutor for students from grade 3 through post-graduate, including Para Pro, Praxis, SAT, and AP preparations. Working through the Caroline County Recreation and Parks department, I have been involved in transition activities for students entering high school, after school activities in the Lifelong Learning Center, and summer camp activities for grades K – 6.
Teaching Style
I believe that all students want to learn and feel successful. I also believe that all students can learn so long as the materials are available to them in a form that is most compatible with their individual learning styles.
My most important charge, along with helping those I tutor to "get" the materials, is to help them analyze their own styles of learning, identify what is successful for them and what is not, and help them create new strategies which might meet with more consistent success, both short and long term. For students who have not learned their own best ways to learn, this step is a crucial foundation for all future academic successes.
