As a recent college graduate, I understand the time and commitment it takes to achieve success in school. I earned a bachelor degree in chemistry with a minor in liberal arts. As a member of the chemistry honor society, I tutored students in chemistry during my college career.
I love helping people achieve their goals. I try to find things that the kids enjoy and incorporate those things into my teaching style. I give the students plenty of time to figure out the answer and do not get frustrated with them if it takes them awhile. I use a very visual teaching style. Any child can learn how to solve any problem, as long as it is explained to them using practical ways that they can understand. I teach using practical examples and putting problem in real life applications. Once a child understands the how and the why, they become more confident in the work that they are doing.
As an engineering student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I have taken many courses in mathematics, however, engineering wasn't my passion. My true passion is working with young people. As a former Director of Education for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Alabama, I have tutored children in mathematics for nearly 10 years! Currently, I am the Director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama. My career is based around working with youth and helping children in their problem areas, especially mathematics.
