A Little Bit About Me...

I have a degree in both Elementary and Special Education with a concentration in History. In the past nine years, I have taught Kindergarten for seven years and fifth grade for two years. I have taught Summer School in Math and Reading. I have tutored Junior High and High School students in Math, Science, History, and English.
I have a passion for teaching. I love to teach children and young adults. I have always been the teacher to help the struggling students, because at one time I was that student. I understand the encouragement and one on one that learners need. I understand that each of us have our own learning styles and I as a teacher have to understand that to help each student achieve their highest potential.

More About This Tutor...

I graduated from college with certification to teach grades 1-12. Do to the job market at that time, I was unable to get a full time teaching job. I substituted and then tutored for 2 years. I then worked various jobs working with the public. Although much of work experience is not in the teaching field, I have worked with people in many ways to reach their full potential and can relate to them on a level that they will comprehend.
I believe in using a multi- modality approach to teaching. The more senses involved, the more likely one will remember. I also believe in trying to make material needed to learn to seem approachable or pertinent in their lives.(No matter the age) Anyone can learn if it is presented in a way that makes it exciting and fun. You must let them give a sense of accomplishment and success.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have over 9 years of combined teaching and instruction experience at the junior high, senior high, private, collegiate, and adult levels. Through scholarships, I have earned a B.A. in Psychology from Ohio Northern University and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University. I am currently working on my second M.Ed. degree and beginning my 3rd season as a Head Boys Track Coach. I have taught and tutored in almost all subject areas but my strongest competencies reside in language arts, math, health, and study skills. I am also a published research writer and poet. A Little Bit About Me...

It is my firm belief that if students have the confidence in themselves to believe they can do well, they will succeed. I believe that there is just not one way to teach because there are many different learning style. Teachers must identify their students' learning styles and find ways to incorporate them into the lesson. I agree with Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Some students are auditory learners, while some are visual. Some students are bodily-kinesthetic learners, while some are naturalists. Other students may be interpersonal or intrapersonal learners. It is my desire to pass a love of learning onto my students.
