Students experience the most successful and memorable experience through making models, my use of videos and working together in small groups. I also utilize "foldables" as study aids and on occasion oral testing. I have found that some students are more successful in comphrension hearing questions rather than reading questions. It also gives them a chance at telling me what they really know. They are allowed the freedom to explain the answer rather than writing one answer. It helps me get the "pulse" of the class. As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth. I found both programs extremely enjoyable and found that all of my students were eager to learn and improve their skill set.
