My comments on tutoring Special Education : I have a soft spot for Special needs students be they Gifted LD. Educable Mentally Handicapped/Challenged Physically challenged or other. No I am not an expert but a person commited to helping people reach their full potential and experience their full dignity I will go the extra mile for these students . I have some special needs that hit very close to home.

I have taught in a wide variety of educational settings. These settings include working in the public schools With Educable Mentally Challenged students,Multilingual classrooms and several self contained elementary classes.I have taught in educational cooperatives, Homeschooled my own children up to college and tutored. I have worked one on one with students who are Gifted , Gifted LD, mainstream, imigrant/ culturally distinct. I love seeing people soar like Eagles
I work best in one on one or small groups. I am capable with larger groups as well. My favorite approach is the Charlotte Mason approach. I have worked with a wide variety of Educational Philosophies/Methods and will draw from them when needed.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like children to get up and move and learn. All students learn differently and it is up to me to learn what it is and then use that to help them learn.
All through college I Tutored children at-risk and/or having a disability. I determined individual needs and apply a variety of methods to help children learn. As a first grade teaching after school I tutor first grader with reading and math. I like children to learn in a fun way. Students need to get up and learn. Worksheets are not something that I like to do when tutoring. Children sit in a desk all day. They do not want to then go and tutor and sit some more. I like to get the kids up and learning.

I became interested in tutoring and teaching as an undergraduate. I began as a basic chemistry tutor, but quickly worked my way up to a lead tutor position. I then took on the responsibility of being a T.A. in both the chemistry lecture class as well as lab. After graduating college, my career led me on a path of training teachers, developing curriculum for schools and teachers, and finally into the position I am now, as a K-5 Technology Instructor. Each child is different. A good teacher helps each student meet their expectations while keeping the child interested in the subject matter. I attended Northern Arizona University, whereupon I fell in love with sociology. I have a firm grasp of basic and advanced sociological concepts, specializing in historical analysis and research methods.
