After spending a year in Illinois as a Brazilian exchange student in high school, I went on to work for General Motors in my hometown of Porto Alegre (Brazil) as an assistant to a branch manager. Among many duties I was also in charge of translating memos, letters and financial reports to and from English and Portuguese. My teaching style is based on the premise that students want to learn and succeed. At times they are blocked in that endeavor by the level of difficulty, the complexities of a lesson or personal obstacles.
