I love tutoring because it gives me the ablility to individualize each students program so it fits their learning style. If a students doesn't understand a concept when I explain it, I use other ways (other explanations and manipulatives) to help the student understand. I am patient and understand each student is unique and their program should be unique to them.
I graduated from Ball State University with a major in Elementary Education. I love working with the younger students in a classroom setting but realized I missed working with older students. I started tutoring at Sylvan at the high school level in math. After a year I became the Assistant Director of Education and comtinued to tutor in the evenings. My trigonometry teacher had me substitute teach his college algebra and trigonometry courses for him while he away. This was some of the most satisfying work I have ever done.
