Most recently, I was a high school math teacher for 3 years specializing in PreAlgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Astronomy. I taught regular, advanced, and special education classes. I strongly believe that students grow and excel when they are given challenges that are just beyond their current level of understanding. I was a special education paraprofessional for six years at the elementary and high school level. I have taught Science curriculum for thirty years. The subjects I have taught include Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science, Zoology, Biology, Chemistry and AP Chemistry. I have a passion and talent in teaching Chemistry with many short and usefull tricks to learning the material. I have had great success with the students that have taken the AP Chemistry test.
In my classroom experience, I have developed a process of instruction followed by in-class practice that effectivly leads to individual learning. As an instuctor in a one on one situation I have found it best to deal with the deficiencies of learning and reinforce the material the student knows. I have always found that students learn best when they feel they already have a grasp of the subject. I feel I can positivly influence the confidence in students that will engage them in learning.
