I have tutored since 1975 in math. All students have improved greatly. I have taught in middle school, HS, and community college. I use fun games, puzzles, and hands-on experiences to help students learn. I have experience with students with learning differences. I find a way to have the students learn.

An instructor, one must create a safe environment that is interactive and collaborative and that promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills. What makes me a great teacher is that I have patience and the understanding to work with anyone. I explain things in a way that whomever I am tutoring can relate to and benefit from the most. I am very social and outgoing which I think is important in helping identifying a student's specific learning needs. I enjoy helping others and want to use my abilities in a positive way.
I recently graduated from NSU with a BS in Chemistry as well as minors in Biology and Math. My passion is working with children of all ages. I believe all children can learn and it depends on how you approach their learning. If a child is not learning, I need to re-evaluate how I go about teaching. I am very patient and have an outgoing personality. I believe that you must teach to the whole child before true learning can happen.
I have been a classroom teacher for 9 years. All 10 of my years out of school have been in the education field. My first year out of college I taught at an unaccredited private school, and then at an accredited day care center. The next 7 years were at a public school. One year I was recruiting for scholarships at the college level. I have always opened my door to students without expectations of payment for several years. While in high school, I discovered my love for math and began tutoring classmates in that area. My interest in writing developed during my educational career at The University of Tulsa, where I had courses in advanced exposition and argumentation and writing for the professions along with literature classes in the areas of Russian and British Literature of the 18th Century, Eastern Literature, and Greek Literature. I also took courses in Spanish, including a composition course. I currently have contracts to publish 2 manuscripts in 2011, one being a compilation of poetry and the other being a research paper dealing with depression stemming from exercise withdrawal.

A Little Bit About Me...

I know the value of a tutor in a young person’s life. As a child I struggled in math, but working with a tutor I overcame my difficulties in this area and eventually went on to complete calculus level two and even become the math club president in high school. I have earned two degrees, a Masters in Business and a BS in Finance which have allowed me to gain extensive skills in math, statistical analysis, finance and writing. I’ve written many research papers and a business plan for a small company which garnered several awards.
