I have tutored since 1975 in math. All students have improved greatly. I have taught in middle school, HS, and community college. I use fun games, puzzles, and hands-on experiences to help students learn. I have experience with students with learning differences. I find a way to have the students learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent college graduate of a private liberal arts college, which gave me experience in every area of education, along with real world experiences. I have had many opportunities to lead and teach children through various extracurricular activities and jobs during my high school and college careers. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, where I gained a lot of knowledge in the areas of math, science, and health.
My step of action in teaching would be to guide and challenge students by remembering that each one is unique. I consider dedication, patience, and encouragement to be three main keys of teaching. I would consider my teaching efforts succesful if students walk away with goals of their own, feelings of self-worth, a positive mindset, and an eagerness to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

What makes me a great teacher is that I have patience and the understanding to work with anyone. I explain things in a way that whomever I am tutoring can relate to and benefit from the most. I am very social and outgoing which I think is important in helping identifying a student's specific learning needs. I enjoy helping others and want to use my abilities in a positive way.
I recently graduated from NSU with a BS in Chemistry as well as minors in Biology and Math. I have very good writing skills not only because of writing lab reports but I worked for the university in the community relations office. I helped write many letters and plans detailing events we had. I have tutored fellow college students in math and science for the past 4 years.

I have been a classroom teacher for 9 years. All 10 of my years out of school have been in the education field. My first year out of college I taught at an unaccredited private school, and then at an accredited day care center. The next 7 years were at a public school. One year I was recruiting for scholarships at the college level. I have always opened my door to students without expectations of payment for several years. I feel that it is my duty to make sure they understand their assignments.
My passion is working with children of all ages. I believe all children can learn and it depends on how you approach their learning. If a child is not learning, I need to re-evaluate how I go about teaching. I am very patient and have an outgoing personality. I believe that you must teach to the whole child before true learning can happen.

My teaching style is patient and creative. I seem to find unique ways and examples that the learner can understand to help describe how to solve problems. I’m not afraid to admit if I’m not confident of an answer to a question and will do all I can to figure out the solution that makes the best sense to the student. I’m flexible with regards to teaching for different learning styles because not everyone learns the same way. My tutoring can extend from grade school kids to college students.
