While gaining BA in biology from a nationally ranking liberal arts college, I further expanded my knowledge by receiving a SURF/SILO Grant to conduct independent breast cancer research, working for a brain tumor research laboratory, and pursuing drug development as an independent contractor for a pharmaceutical company. As a college student, I also acted as a teaching assistant for zoology and comparative vertebrate anatomy laboratories for three years. I like to take a holistic view to my teaching style and see what the children need out of a teacher. Sometimes I prefer to work visually and hands on, where other times I feel the children learn best from reading and going through the book. I like to be patient and take a more relaxed approach with children so that they feel comfortable with me. I have worked for the past 6 years with children in school settings. I did a lot of tutoring work during my school counseling internship. I tutored 3 different middle school girls who needed help in all subjects.
