My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : Learning to understand what you read is the foundation of critical thinking. Learn to read for understanding, including how to read in between the lines!

I try to do some explication, and then have the student try some exercises or venture out on their own. In the cases of multiple sessions, I DO assign homefun (as opposed to homework), so that the student will have some experience when next we meet.
I am an experienced graphic and web designer. But in college I thought I was going to be either an English or History Professor, or an Attorney. That's why I studied lots of his History, English, and took the pre-law major Philosophy. I have several year of post-graduate classes as well. I started teaching Graphic Design in 2002, and brought into that Web Design, along with the skills that accompany them - HTML and CSS. I have even designed signs, and love it!

Passionate Elementary Education Tutor

B.S. Elementary ed with math minor. Certified in PA. I've either taught or tutored in some form or fashion for over 17yrs now. I've had ages 3yrs to 22yrs old covering all manner of subjects and hobbies. One of my most rewarding experience was with an 18 year old special needs 10th grader ready to drop out of school. We met 2-3x a week for 6mths. In that time he raised his GPA from 1.2 to 2.7. He completed his 10th grade year and went on to take and pass the G.E.D. the following year.
