My preferred teaching style is to use questions to teach the student to think about the subject in more than one way. I have experience in a variety of fields, both in education and in the business world. I have experience teaching high school economics and speech in a traditional setting, and a variety of subjects in a homeschool setting. My best subjects are history, especially American history, and economics. In history, I advocate studying events from a variety of perspectives, and seek to impress the student with the importance of understanding the perspectives of those who lived in various time periods. The major benefit of a one-on-one tutoring environment is that a student can be taught in the manner which best suits their personal learning style. I believe it is imperative to identify a student's preferred learning style and to adapt my teaching accordingly. When working with a student, I prefer to allow the student to work through a problem and discover the answers themselves, while I guide and instruct them, instead of merely showing them.
