Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. What works for one student doesn't always work for every student. I am a loving and positive teacher by nature. Word origin and grammar usuage is how a student builds their writing skills! My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : If you can read it, you can understand it and I can help with both.

I have tutored many people in English Composition I and II, from community colleges to major universities. I work with (and have experience with) students as early as 5th grade. I cover all subjects related to Language Arts, Creative Writing, Composition and Journalism. I do qualify for my teaching certificate in Oklahoma to teach Language Arts at any grade level. I love working with students who need the most help. I am patient, kind, and humorous (when possible). It does not matter if I have to explain the same things a million times over, so long as the student grasps the information. I can tutor students 1-3 times a week for 2-3 hours/session or I can proofread/edit a paper if that is all that is needed. I taught high school English and coached football for forty years before I retired. The two positions are compatible in that each has talented youngsters who come to school each day excited to learn and improve and those others less capable and seemingly apathetic about the task at hand.
