I teach writing / grammar students based on their level of understanding vocabulary. Learning how to figure out the meaning of vocabulary words is key in successful writing. Word origin and grammar usuage is how a student builds their writing skills! Learning a wide range of vocabulary words (synonyms, antonyms, metaphors...etc.) gives the student more confidence and exercises the brain.

Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. What works for one student doesn't always work for every student. I am a loving and positive teacher by nature. I strive to be a teacher that my students will remember for life, because our time was such a positive impact on their success.

I received a B.A. degree from Central Oklahoma University in 1966. My major was English and my minor was Social Studies. I taught English in grades 9-11 for forty years. American Literature (Junior English) is what I taught the most but am qualified to assist students in understanding various literary genre as well as grammar lessons and writing assignments. I retired from teaching and coaching football after the 2006 school year and would enjoy an opportunity to tutor students if I am knowledgeable in their tasks at hand.
I taught high school English and coached football for forty years before I retired. I love helping children achieve their educational goals. I am a firm believer in giving back to our communities through helping children that are struggling academically. My style of teaching in through facilitating and allowing the pupil to engage the thought process. I have an analytical style personality.
