Reading, Spelling, and Phonics all go together. I have won spelling competitions throughout my schooling. Knowing basic phonics aids in spelling. Also, repetition of reading the word, writing the word, and saying the letters of the word helps in memorizing spelling words. I prefer a hybrid teaching style. I have never had formal experience tutoring. However Throughout my years of schooling I would participate in study groups which I see as everyone tutoring eachother. I also have two siblings, one very close in age and the other is approximately four years younger. Needless to say, I frequently helped my younger sister with her homework. Just to clarify when I say 'help' I do not mean I just gave her the answers, I would make sure that I either explained or demonstrated the correct way to approach a problem in order to make sure that she understood how to apply the knowlege come test time.
