I think lots of modeling and review of the concepts being taught is essential. I want the student to observe the modeling and then for me to guide them through the learning of the concepts. Students should be fully engaged in order to gain a full understanding.
I have been tutoring all subjects K-8 for over 15 years. I am a certified teacher and currently teach 6th grade. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for over a year before becoming a private tutor. Each student deserves to know that they can achieve. I believe that the level of success a student reaches is, ultimately, up to the student. I feel that with caring & patient guidance a student will be motivated to do their best. I believe in hands on experiences in all areas of learning. I am a creative teacher and strive towards a Whole Language approach. As much as possible, I make a lesson relevant to each student's personal life - giving additional motivation for them to work at their own success.
I have worked with children of varying ages since 1982. I am most passionate about Language Arts, History and Science.
