I am a fan of teaching people who are eager and willing to learn. If a person actually wants to learn, then the trick is merely to be patient, build up a persons confidence, and try as many angles as possible until you find the right one that clicks with how they best learn and are able to understand. I would describe my teaching style in terms of the activity, belaying. Slack is given to the rope at times so that the climber may advance, or traverse, the face of the mountain. When the climber feels tired, or incapable, the rope needs tightening so the climber stays secure. If the climber falls from the face of the mountain the taught rope will prevent injury or possible demise. I tend to give my students slack when I feel they are advancing in terms of curriculum, yet once I notice their tendency to rest, or falter, I tighten my teaching approach by using more straightforward methods so that they are not confused, or do not wear themselves out with struggle. A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent college graduate, I know how to work hard. I earned a bachelor degree, BS in Marine Biology from UC Santa Cruz, where I took many science and math classes. I do not have any experience in tutoring, but I have been a mentor to kids in other jobs I have had.
In the job I had where I mentored kids, it was a program called Lil Kickers. This program was for kids 3-10 years old where they were taught how to listen to instructions and communicate with one another. During my undergrad studies, I began tutoring with children (usually 1-2 at a time) from pre-school age with phonics and sight reading until the present time with reading, writing, math, science and history. I have also worked in a private girls school as an After School Study Hall teacher for Grades 5-8 and presently I am a Substitute teacher for Grades K-6 in a self-contained classroom.
