Experience Summary
I have years of experience with tutoring, teaching, and training. After working as a teacher in elementary school for 7 years, I also worked as a volunteer tutor in after school for kids from K-5 in all subjects in elementary schools. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Political science with a Masters Degree in International Relations. I did a Certification on Fundamentals of Computer Science from Phoenix College, Arizona and have credentials in reading, writing and math. Having years of experience, I provide after school tutoring and guidance at our residence for children from Kindergarten - 5th grade. Homework assistance, reading, writing, math, additional art and craft fun, extra educational work on all subjects and free choice activities like board games, art projects, puzzles and reading are provided to the kids. When I first work with a student I assess their abilities both in terms of strengths and areas of needed improvement, and then create individual lessons for them as a guide to help them on their path towards success. If it is necessary I will collaborate with the student’s teacher(s) work too. I have tutored several students in the K-5 demographic and I am familiar with the pedagogical methods that can be used to help younger students. I also worked as a an academic subject instructor in private, small groups and later as an independent tutor.
Teaching Style
My experience as a tutor is extensive. I have a way of taking difficult material and explaining it clearly. I am hardworking and believe in doing my best. My teaching style is encouraging and creative. I use tactile teaching methods appropriate in math lessons, which I have found especially effective in working with younger students. In reading, writing, and spelling I come up with games and activities to keep students engaged and improve retention. I am well organized, well versed in lesson planning and implementing what is planned. My special interests are in art, crafts and music. I am highly skilled in teaching techniques for all elementary school subjects, and have extraordinary patience and creativity for teaching learners. All of my curriculum is aligned with California Common Core Standards.
