After graduating from high school as valedictorian, I earned a Zoology BS and a Studio Art BA from SUNY Oswego, successfully completing English composition, speech, visual arts, biology, zoology, chemistry, Spanish, and calculus II courses, and graduated with a 3.76 GPA. Prior, I had taken and earned over a 90% in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and AP calculus. While attending a small private university in upstate New York, I pursued a degree in Chemistry with a minor in English. A Little Bit About Me...

A natural teacher, I started helping my fellow students in High School. This lead to tutoring algebra to middle school students. Then I applied to be a note-taker and tutor at community a local college, then I was a teaching assistant at Binghamton University for Biology. After graduation I persued a career in Microbology, where I work teaching medical students and future doctors about microbiology. I was also asked to teach as an adjunt professor at BU. I accepted and taught a course in Medical Microbiology for the Nursing program. A lecture 3 times a week to 90 students, with office hours and I had 2 teaching assistants under me.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). While completing my teaching degree I taught for three years with troubled youth. Subjects were regents level and the subject was earth science and algebra or course I as it is called in NY. I have also taught Summer school at the Allen Center in South Kortright which can be a tough crowd to work with. During my undergraduate studies I tutored chemistry and biology. I also taught 8th grade physical science in Prince George Virgina.
In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning.
