I have worked in the automotive industry from 1995-2007. In 2007, I took a buyout from Ford in order to stay home full time with my two children. I went back to Ford Motor Co. in 2013, working part-time. My Bachelor's Degree is from University of Michigan in Electrical Engineering. My main focus is tutoring math. Although a senior about 20 credits from my BS, I know I am qualified for this job. My passion for Chemistry rubs off on those around me. My teaching style is to try make a confusing or intimidating subject matter such calculus or physics more understandable and approachable. I do this by breaking down the confusing topic into smaller and simpler sub-topics and showing how these sub-topics build into the final subject they are trying to comprehend. I feel the need for tutoring is the need to simply obtain information in a form that is different from the one presented in the classroom. As a tutor, I work to break things down into their constituent pieces and explain each of these pieces in turn. This is a more time-intensive method of instruction, of course, as the breaking down of information is totally dependent on the way it must be done for it to make sense to the student. Tutoring allows this method to be used, as one-on-one, this method is just as quick as the standard schoolroom methods.

I earned a BA in math and chemistry secondary education from Olivet College, a liberal arts college in Olivet, MI. There I earned enough credits to fill the requirements for a math major and four minors including organic, physical, and analytical chemistry and communications. While a student, I worked as a tutor for the athletic department helping athletes with math and sciences. Patience and flexibility are the keys. You can't explain a concept the same way to each student and expect each one will understand. Some students need extra time to grasp the material so it's important not to progress unless there's certainty of complete comprhension. Encouragement is also necessary which will build their confidence, and a confident student is a better one.
My BS in Civil Engineering provided me with an extensive education of advanced Mathematics such as Calculus, Dynamics, Physics, and Statics. I worked for 10 years in the field which included design of subdivisions, site condominiums, and other developments. Correspondence between review engineers on projects required proper writing and grammatical skills. Since October of 2009,I have worked part-time for a Metro Detroit tutoring agency. Subjects include Math, Science, English, and ACT test preparation.
